「韓国の文在寅大統領は、金正恩の首席報道官だ！」と報じた米ブルームバーグ通信の昨年9月の記事をめぐって、韓国与党が記者の個人名を挙げて非難したことに関連し、外信記者たちが17日、韓国大統領府（青瓦台）に立場表明を要求した。
しかし韓国大統領府はそれから3日が経過した19日になっても沈黙（無視）を貫いている。
韓国与党「共に民主党」は13日、李海植（イ・ヘシク）報道官名義で声明を発表し、ブルームバーグ通信の記者の実名を挙げて記事を批判した。
李海植報道官は記事について「米国国籍の通信社を隠れみのにして国家元首を・・・」と指摘した。
これに対し、外信約100社が加盟するソウル外信記者クラブが、声明を取り消すよう求めたが、共に民主党は公式サイトにこの声明を掲載したままだ。
こうした中、フランス・メディア所属の記者が17日、韓国大統領府と外信記者のコミュニケーションの場となっている外信記者のグループチャットで
「（韓国与党の声明に対する）韓国大統領府の立場と言論の自由に対する立場はどうなっているのか？」
と質問した。
続いて別の外信の記者十数人が同様の質問を書き込んだ。
しかし韓国大統領府は19日午後2時30分現在、何ら回答を書き込んでいない。
通常は韓国大統領府海外メディア秘書官室の関係者が外信記者の質問に答えを書き込んでいるが、今回は何の反応も示していない。
外信記者たちは、大統領府がこのまま回答しない場合、各国大使館に「言論の自由・人権侵害報告書」を提出する計画だという。
一方、アジア系アメリカ人ジャーナリスト協会（AAJA）も18日、アジア支部とその傘下のソウル支部の共同名義で
「協会の会員でブルームバーグ通信所属の記者をめぐる論争を慎重に注視している。このような脅しは韓国で活動する全ての記者たちに保障されるべき言論の自由を侵害する行為だ！」
との声明を発表した。
アジア系アメリカ人ジャーナリスト協会（AAJA）は
「民主党の報道官は、（騒動になった）記事を作成したブルームバーグの記者の経歴と外信（記者）としての資格を問題視し、記者が韓国国籍のソウル駐在員ということを理由にして、報道の信ぴょう性をおとしめた！」
として
「AAJAアジア支部は、今回の事件によって記者個人に加えられる批判（言論弾圧）にはっきりと遺憾を表明し、記者の身の安全が脅かされている状況に懸念を禁じ得ない！」
と表明した。
